By the time the WWE 2K22 release date rolls around, it’ll have been over two years since the last mainline entry in the series. The WWE video game franchise traces its roots back to 2000’s WWF SmackDown, but it has been one of many ups and downs. And 2019’s WWE 2K20 was when it all came to a head.
It was panned by critics and players alike. Everything was disappointing at best and broken at worst. It caused a huge outcry on social media, and WWE 2K21 was ultimately cancelled so the series could be rebuilt. And fans thought this would be the year they’d finally get to play the long-awaited WWE 2K22. But it won’t be. 2K recently confirmed some new details about the game, including a WWE 2K22 release date. So, what do we know about it?
When is WWE 2K22 release date?
So, when is WWE 2K22 coming out? Sometime in March 2022, 2K have confirmed.
In years past, WWE 2K games were typically released around October/November. And it was stated during WrestleMania weekend in April that WWE 2K22 would arrive in 2021. But now, four months later, WWE 2K22‘s release date has been delayed to next year.
A specific day in March hasn’t been given, but we know that will be the month. A tweet from the official 2K account confirmed as much.

What else do we know about the game?
All that’s been confirmed for WWE 2K22 to date is “new controls”, “stunning graphics”, and a “redesigned engine”. And they’re some big promises, albeit quite vague. But in June, we wrote about our top 3 most wanted features including WWE 2K22 GM mode – and we’re hoping 2K will make them a reality. However, it remains to be seen how the game will turn out. Apparently, more info will be coming in January so we shouldn’t have to wait long to find out more.
