Part III of the long-awaiting Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series has landed on Disney+. Parts I and II started things off slowly, however the pace ramped up significantly during this week’s third outing. The Third Sister told Obi-Wan that Anakin Skywalker was still alive at the end of the previous episode. And viewers were likely wondering how long it would take for the two to cross paths. Especially now Anakin has fully embraced the dark side and become Darth Vader. It turns out we didn’t have to wait long. During Part III’s climax, Vader and Kenobi finally come face to face for the first time in 10 years and clashed on the planet Mapuzo. But one thing you might be asking is “who voices Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi?”. You probably already know that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the show – but does he voice Vader, too?
Who voices Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Part III doesn’t hang around – we get our first scene with Darth Vader very early into the episode. Vader is on Mustafar and we watch as machines equip his cyborg suit. He communicates with the Third Sister (Reva Sevander) and promises her the role of Grand Inquisitor if she can prove herself to him. It’s immediately apparent that the voice of Darth Vader isn’t provided by Hayden Christensen. So, who is delivering the Dark Lord’s lines?
This is who voices Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi. James Earl Jones voices Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+. That’s right – Vader’s original voice actor once again returns in the new series. He previously provided the voice for the character in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, and The Rise of Skywalker. Despite being 91, James Early Jones still sounds perfect as Darth Vader. Hayden Christensen plays Vader in the suit, so it’s awesome to know both actors are working together to bring the character to life.
Darth Vader and Obi-Wan had a brief but exhilarating fight at the close of the episode. But there’s undoubtedly more to come. With Obi-Wan noticeably weaker than when he previously battled Anakin, he was quickly defeated. And it’s difficult to imagine how he can match up to a full-powered Vader when they next clash.
