Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Disney+ on 27th May 2022 after years of rumours, speculation, and anticipation. Ewan McGregor reprises his role as the titular character. Obi-Wan now more closely resembles the character we first met in A New Hope. He’s aged and living in hiding on Tatooine while watching over a young Luke Skywalker. Kenobi – now known as Ben – has long since left his Jedi life behind. He even has a regular job. Surviving Jedi are being mercilessly hunted by Sith Inquisitors. Inquisitors are Jedi hunters searching for anyone who lived through Order 66. Some of them are even former Jedi themselves who turned to the dark side. But exactly how much time has passed since Order 66 was executed? And when is Obi-Wan Kenobi set?
When is Obi-Wan Kenobi set?
Obi-Wan Kenobi is available to stream on Disney+ now. It’s sure to be a huge hit for the streaming giant. Of course, the company has already enjoyed massive success with other Star Wars shows. In the new series, Obi-Wan comes out of hiding to rescue a captured Princess Leia Organa. She has been living on Alderaan with Senator Bail Organa and Queen Breha Organ, her adoptive parents. Leia is a young girl in the show, so you might be wondering exactly when is Obi-Wan Kenobi set in the Star Wars timeline.
This is when Obi-Wan Kenobi is set. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. At the end of Episode III – which was released 17 years ago – Kenobi defeated his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker in a battle on Mustafar. Luke and Leia were born and given to their adoptive parents. Anakin (who was severely burned and mutilated) was recovered by Palpatine and transformed into the cyborg Darth Vader.
