The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered to be one of the best video games ever made. It first graced consoles and PCs back in 2015. And fans have been in love with its detailed fantasy world and deep RPG gameplay ever since. However, following the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, players were clamouring for the long-rumoured next-gen upgrade. So, when does The Witcher 3 remastered come out?

Speculation and rumours about the next-gen update have been especially rampant for the past couple of years. In late 2021, CD Projekt Red announced that The Witcher 3 was set to receive an official next-gen upgrade in 2022. Despite the announcement, no concrete release date was given.

Throughout the year, the remastered version of Geralt’s battle against the nefarious Wild Hunt was pushed back numerous times. However, in November the long-awaited remaster was finally given an official release date.

The re-release is set to come with a range of new features. These include improved graphics, remastered textures, superior performance, ray tracing, and a new quest inspired by the popular Netflix series. To ensure fans will be satisfied with the remaster, CD Projekt Red even collaborated with the creators of popular mods.

With so much to look forward to, anticipation for The Witcher 3 remaster has reached a fever pitch. So, when does The Witcher 3 remastered come out?

News on The Witcher 3’s next-gen upgrade was scarce throughout 2022. Many fans began to doubt that the remaster would arrive before the new year. After all, the end of Q4 was fast-approaching. And there had been no word on when fans could expect to get their hands on it.

When it was officially announced, players rejoiced. The news meant they would finally be able to get their hands on The Witcher 3 remastered before Christmas.

When does The Witcher 3 remastered come out? The Witcher 3 remastered and next-gen upgrade is set to launch on Wednesday, 14 December 2022.

While the new version of the game will be most popular with console players (due to the vast visual and performance improvements) it will also be available on PC, too.

Best of all, it can be downloaded at no cost on all platforms. That means owners of the original version will be able to upgrade for free by downloading the digital remastered edition through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, or Steam.

If you didn’t play The Witcher 3 when it was originally released, you will be able to purchase the next-gen upgrade separately. However, console owners also have the cost-effective option of buying a secondhand copy of the original disc version and upgrading for free on 14 December.
