We absolutely love great horror movies. And some of our recent favourites have come from A24, including Hereditary, Midsommar, and The Witch. Now, a new horror film – set to be distributed by A24 in the United States – is attracting lots of attention on social media.
Talk to Me is being called “the scariest A24 movie that’s ever come out”. That’s a bold claim. But if this Australian film’s trailer is anything to go by, audiences could be in for a serious fright.
The trailer has already racked up an impressive 8.4 million views on A24’s official YouTube channel since it was posted on 11th April 2023. It is also garnering significant interest on TikTok.
Talk to Me debuted at the Adelaide Film Festival on 30th October 2022. It was subsequently screen at the Sundance Film Festival on 22nd January 2023. Critics have responded incredibly positively to the movie. It currently boasts an impressive 97% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
It will release in Australia on 27th July 2023 and in the United States on the following day – 28th July 2023. Talk to Me is directed by twin brothers Danny and Michael Philippou.

Talk to Me is a supernatural horror film about a group friends who gather together to use an embalmed hand to perform a séance in the hope of communicating with spirits. However, participants must end the ritual within 90 seconds otherwise the spirits will “want to stay”. To begin the ritual, the participant must touch the embalmed hand and say “talk to me”. When Mia (Sophie Wilde) performs the séance, she unwittingly engages with it for too long which allows supernatural forces to cross over into the real world.
One critic said it’s “One of the scariest movies I have ever seen.” This was echoed by critic Terry Mesnard who called it “one of the scariest movies of the decade.” Another critic commented that they “can’t think of a meaner conclusion to a movie and I love every second of it”.
It certainly sounds like Talk to Me delivers on everything a good horror movie should.
