As any fan knows, professional wrestling is full of jargon that few outside the bubble would understand. But, sometimes, even fans have a hard time understanding exactly what wrestlers are talking about. And that’s especially true when new phrases are used that they haven’t heard before. A new example of this is “Death Jitsu”, which wrestling fans will have heard mentioned during recent AEW shows. But what is Death Jitsu?

The phrase is used in relation to the Blackpool Combat Club (BCC). The BCC is a popular faction in All Elite Wrestling comprised of Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta.

The faction is best known for its violent and excessively aggressive wrestling style, as well as the pure technical ability of its members.

In recent AEW broadcasts, the BCC and commentators have been referring to Death Jitsu more and more. And it was no more apparent than during the 31st May edition of AEW Dynamite. To kick off the show, the BCC had a match against The Lucha Bros and Bandido. During the match, the term was mentioned multiple times.

But what exactly does it mean and how does it relate to the BCC?

What is Death Jitsu?

Death Jitsu is the term used to describe the wrestling style of the Blackpool Combat Club and its members. BCC member Bryan Danielson explained that Death Jitsu is “using technical wrestling in violent ways”.

AEW shared a brief clip of Danielson’s explanation on Twitter, which is worth a watch if you’re interested.

As one of the most dangerous groups in AEW, it makes sense that there is a special term to describe the BCC’s aggressive wrestling style.

It also appears that the term will be used for official AEW merchandise in future, as evidenced by the Death Jitsu hoodie Jon Moxley wore on Dynamite. You can check it out in the image below.

It will be interesting to see how the BCC’s wrestling style continues to develop now it has its own name. It certainly seems like we could be in for a violent and bloody ride as the faction hones their wrestling against the The Elite and the rest of the AEW roster.
