What happened to DMZ in MW2? Not working and how to fix

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 02 Reloaded is well underway. But players are encountering frustrating new bugs that are getting in the way of their enjoyment. One glitch in particular is making fans wonder what happened to DMZ in MW2.

That’s because this new bug appears to be preventing fans from playing DMZ entirely. The exact reason for the issue is unclear. Although it’s likely related to the mid-season update and some of the new additions introduced over the last week.

The bug arises when players select DMZ from the MW2 Home screen, where the game displays the “Message of the Day” and “What’s Hot” game modes.

Upon selecting DMZ, players are taken to the multiplayer Quick Play screen rather than DMZ. There doesn’t appear to be any specific reason for this and there are no DMZ options available from Quick Play.

That may leave players thinking it’s impossible to play DMZ or that the mode has been removed. But, thankfully, there is a way to fix the DMZ not working issue in MW2.

How to fix DMZ not working error in Modern Warfare 2

If you’re unable to access DMZ from the Home screen in MW2, this is what you need to do:

Stay on the Home screen but do not select DMZ from the “What’s Hot” category. Instead, scroll down to the “Games” category and select DMZ from there.

This will take you into the DMZ lobby screen. If you back out of DMZ, you will now also be able to access it from the “What’s Hot” category.

The issue will return when you restart the game, but luckily it’s a quick and simple fix so just repeat the steps listed above.
