This Call of Duty: Warzone article explains what the Comms Vest does in Battle Royale, Resurgence, and DMZ.

Season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone saw the introduction of new armor plate carriers in Call of Duty‘s DMZ mode – Stealth, Medic, Comms, and Tempered. These were well-received by players thanks to the useful benefits they provided.

When Season 4 Reloaded launched in July 2023, the new plate carriers were added to the other Warzone modes. While the Medic, Tempered, and Stealth plate carriers function the same between DMZ and standard Warzone, the Comms Vest is slightly different.

After taking some time away from Warzone over the last year and instead focussing on DMZ, I was unsure exactly how the Comms Vest worked when I returned to Warzone to check out The Haunting event.

Having used all three plate carries across Warzone and DMZ, I can explain the main differences with the Comms Vest.

What does the Comms Vest do in Warzone?

In Battle Royale and Resurgence, the Comms Vest enhances UAVs and UAV towers. Their duration will be extended and they will function like Advanced UAVs.

It retains these benefits in DMZ, but it also provides announcer callouts when enemy operators and squads are nearby.

While it’s unclear exactly why the announcer callouts have been removed in Warzone, they do provide immense benefit in DMZ which is an extraction-based looter-shooter. As the focus in DMZ isn’t on fighting other operators, kills and deaths are less important.

However, in Warzone, an announcer callout alerting players to nearby operators could be a key difference maker. Therefore, it’s likely this feature was removed for balancing reasons.
