This article explains the Lockdown mode coming to Warzone in Season 4.

Mark your calendars, Call of Duty: Warzone is receiving the much-anticipated Season 4 update on 14 June. It is packed with numerous enhancements, and the highlight is undoubtedly the introduction of an exciting new map called Vondel. As players dive into this fresh battleground, they’ll need to adapt their gameplay strategies to navigate through unfamiliar terrain.

The new map isn’t the only thing to get excited about, though. Alongside Vondel, there’s also new weapons, Operators, and game modes. When it comes to the latter, probably the most interesting addition is “Lockdown” – a new mode that’s coming exclusively to Vondel.

Before we get into that, it’s important to note that Vondel sits between Ashika Island and Al Mazrah in terms of size. This medium scale map will initially play host to the Resurgence and DMZ game modes before hosting Battle Royale later on in the season.

Lockdown is an addition to those three modes and it is inspired by the multiplayer mode Hardpoint.

According to the official Warzone Season 4 blog post, “Lockdown will task multiple Quads at capturing and holding zones around the map rather than being the last squad standing.”

The mode is intended to appeal to those who enjoy both objective based multiplayer and battle royale. Games of Lockdown will “roughly last about double the time of a traditional Hardpoint match.” For reference, Hardpoint games are five minutes long; however, the clock stops whenever the objective is captured. As a result, matches tend to last significantly longer than five minutes.

The blog explains that “you can theoretically fit four matches back-to-back within an hour”, meaning they’ll last for around fifteen minutes each.

In a change from the traditional battle royale mode, Warzone‘s new Lockdown mode allows for custom loadouts at the start of each match.

Lockdown is planned to launch on 28 June and will become a part of the playlist rotation for Warzone.
