Call of Duty: Warzone is undoubtedly one of the most popular video games in the world. And it took the world by storm when it launched in March 2020. Particularly because people wanted something fun to play during Covid-19 lockdowns. Next-gen consoles arrived a few months after its release. Ever since then, players lucky enough to have one of the new consoles have been asking when a Warzone PS5 and Xbox Series X update will be released. So, what do we know about a Call of Duty: Warzone next-gen upgrade?
Warzone PS5 update release date
If, like us, you’d like to use your next-gen hardware to full effect in Warzone, you’re likely wondering when an upgrade will be released. And the truth is, we’re not sure. Not much has been said about a CoD: Warzone next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
What we do know is that it’s in the works. Raven Software’s Amos Hodge (Creative Director) previously said that Raven have a “dedicated technology team” developing a Warzone update for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Sadly, no further details have been shared. And that’s left fans to speculate on a release date. Sometime in 2022 seems a safe bet at this point. It’s hard to imagine the upgrade taking another full year to arrive, but exactly when in 2022 it will launch is unclear.
If you’ve played Call of Duty: Warzone recently, you’re probably aware of the game’s extensive technical issues. So before any next-gen version arrives, Raven will surely want to get those problems resolved. That means we may be stuck with the PS4 and Xbox One versions for a while longer.
Warzone next-gen update: What will be included?
But what will change when an updated Warzone for PS5 and Xbox Series X is released? What new features can players expect? Again, it’s unclear right now. Lots of fans have been demanding enhancements that will bring the console experience closer to that of the PC version. That would include the much-requested Warzone FOV slider. Also on the cards as part of an upgrade for next-gen consoles would be SSD improvements (i.e. faster load times), ray-tracing, and 120HZ support. Additionally, PS5 players can reasonably expect support for the console’s impressive DualSense controller – including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
With that being said, we simply don’t know exactly what a PS5 update for Warzone will include as Raven are yet to provide specific details. It’s all speculation at this point. But we’ll be sure to keep you posted as new information becomes available.
