This Call of Duty: Warzone guide explains how to turn off Jump Scares in The Haunting event.

The Haunting – Warzone‘s time-limited Halloween event – is here. While it felt like MW3‘s beta overshadowed its predecessor and Warzone, the start of The Haunting has reignited some interest.

That’s primarily due to all the unique features it introduces as part of the spooky season celebrations. This includes new bosses, weapons, items, unlockables, and map variations. The Haunting also sees the return of Jump Scares, which have been featured in previous Halloween events in Call of Duty titles.

They appear in two specific instances in Warzone. When you unlock items in the Battle Pass and when looting items from containers in-game. While the Jump Scares are definitely in-keeping with the Halloween theme, it goes without saying that many people won’t like them.

They often pop up when you least expect it and are incredibly loud. This is not only scary, but also pretty distracting. Therefore, it’s understandable that many players may want to turn them off.

So, after doing some digging and exploring the game’s settings, we have the answer.

How to turn Jump Scares off in The Haunting (Warzone)

Jump Scares can only be disabled in the Battle Pass, not in-game. To do this, go to the Battle Pass screen and press L2/LT. You will see the Jump Scare toggle in the top left corner switch from “On” to “Off”.

Press L2/LT in the Battle Pass screen.

As noted in this screen, this will only turn them off in the Battle Pass. However, they will remain enabled in-game.

While it is overwhelmingly likely that most players would switch Jump Scares off entirely if they could, the option to do so does not exist. It is currently unknown if Activision plans to add this feature to Warzone. But given that The Haunting is a time-limited event, it appears they are here to stay.

This is sure to frustrate some players, however we think this spooky addition to Warzone is perfect for Halloween. It also helps keep you on your toes and to be prepared for anything while in-game.

So, we’re quite happy for them to stick around until The Haunting concludes.
