This guide explains how to unlock the M13B in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0.
Fans have been enjoying Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 since its recent launch. And one new mode in particular is receiving increasing attention from players.
DMZ is Warzone 2.0‘s extraction mode, introduced alongside the latest version of the Call of Duty battle royale experience on 16th November 2022. In DMZ, players take on AI opponents as well as other human-controlled squads.
The objective is to find valuable loot and complete Faction missions for XP and rewards. As the clock ticks down, players must reach exfil points and escape Al Mazrah with their collected gear.
You can read our full DMZ explainer here. It’s well worth a look if you want to know more about the new mode before you jump in.
DMZ also provides a unique way of unlocking weapons. One area that Modern Warfare II has received some criticism is its new unlock system.
Players need to grind numerous weapons to unlock all the different guns and attachments. But you can actually circumvent this somewhat in DMZ.
If you exfil from a game of DMZ with a weapon you haven’t unlocked, you will gain access to it. The gun will be available to use in DMZ, Warzone 2.0 battle royale, and Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.
The best example of this is the M13B, which can only be unlocked in DMZ. So, how do you unlock the M13B in CoD MW2 and Warzone 2.0? Keep reading to find out…
How To Unlock M13B in Warzone 2.0 (DMZ) and Modern Warfare 2
The M13 first appeared in 2019’s Modern Warfare. It was a popular choice in the original Warzone. The gun returns in Modern Warfare II, but it has been renamed the M13B.
The M13B became available to unlock in MW2 at the start of Season 01.
Its official in-game description reads as follows: “The M13B features a short-stroke piston system that allows for a high rate of fire and low recoil.”
This is how to unlock the M13B in Warzone 2.0 (DMZ) and Modern Warfare 2. The M13B can only be unlocked in Warzone 2.0‘s DMZ mode. Players must find and kill a mini-boss called the Chemist, who is located in a radiation zone. The Chemist drops the M13B. You will unlock the gun if you successfully exfil from DMZ with it in your possession.
To find the radiation zone, look at your TacMap. You will see a yellow circle with a pink radiation symbol in the middle.
This area is full of patrolling AI enemies and the Chemist, so you’ll be in for a big fight. Make sure you stock up on ammo and armour plates. We also recommend having a gas mask and radiation blockers before entering the radiation zone.
Radiation blockers can be easily obtained by completing a ‘Secure Nuclear Material’ contract. These will prevent radiation damage when fighting the Chemist.
If the Chemist is still alive, you will receive an on-screen message as you approach the radiation zone. It reads: “THE CHEMIST NEARBY”.
A new marker will appear indicating the Chemist’s location. Look out for his yellow biohazard suit. Once you’ve found him, take him out. He will drop a yellow M13B variant called Health Hazard.
Collect the weapon and make your way to an exfil site. Successfully exfil and the M13B will be yours.
