Let’s face it, Al Mazrah wasn’t the most popular Warzone map. Thankfully, Call of Duty fans can look forward to a brand new one shortly after the launch of Modern Warfare 3. But when does the new Warzone map come out?
Before we get into the the release date of the new map – dubbed Urzikstan – let’s take a look at what has been revealed about it.
The new Warzone locale gets its name from the country of Urzikstan which has featured in Call of Duty games since 2019’s Modern Warfare.
Urzikstan is a peninsula on the eastern border of the Black Sea. It sits in the Caucasus Region of Western Asia and borders the United Republic of Adal (home to Al Mazrah), Georgia and the Russian Federation.
Between 1999 and 2019, Urzikstan was ruled by dictator Roman Barkov and was essentially a Russian puppet state. Barkov was eventually defeated in a joint operation between the SAS, CIA and Urzik Militia (led by Farah Karim) before being disowned by Russia thus ending the two-decade long occupation.
In Modern Warfare 3, Urzikstan becomes home to Warzone and will replace Al Mazrah as the game’s main battle royale map.
But when does the new Warzone map come out? Let’s take a look at the Urzikstan release date.
Urzikstan release date: When does the new Warzone map come out?
When does the new Warzone map come out? According to reputable reporter Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, the new Urzikstan map will launch with Modern Warfare 3 Season 01 on Tuesday, 5 December 2023. Like previous updates, it should launch at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET / 5 pm GMT / 6 pm CET.
While this date has not been officially confirmed by Activision, the timeline is similar to last year’s launch of Modern Warfare II Season 01 and Warzone 2.0 which came two and a half weeks after that game’s initial release.
Consequently, it’s safe to assume that this unofficial date is likely to be the day that Urzikstan will arrive in Warzone.
