A new report from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson says that Ubisoft has eight games scheduled to launch between 2024 and 2026 followed by a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
The report, which focusses on “low morale” and “internal tensions” at the publisher, also says that “employees fear that the publisher could be next to see a major restructuring” that could result in job losses as is being seen across the industry.
It explains that growing “resentment” has contributed to lower than expected player numbers for recent releases including Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which has around 300,000 players, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which has 1.9 million players.
Henderson added that Frontiers of Pandora, which was developed by Massive Entertainment, only generated $133m in revenue compared to $330m and $264m for Massive’s previous games, The Division and The Division 2, respectively.
