A new teaser trailer for the upcoming movie Longlegs was released this week and it is scaring even the most hardened of horror movie fans with them saying it has left them “hooked” and “wanting more”.

Longlegs follows FBI Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) in pursuit of a serial killer (Nicholas Cage). Soon, Harker uncovers links to the occult and her own past.

The teaser trailer for Longlegs slowly zooms in on a picture of a seemingly happy family consisting of a mother, father and daughter. Audio of a 9-1-1 call plays over the top.

“9-1-1. What’s your emergency?”

“It’s my daughter,” replies a scared sounding man. “…That’s not my daughter.”

The trailer then abruptly cuts to an uncanny image of a person lying on the ground. Three arms and a pair of long legs are visible.

It is simple yet effective – and audiences have been left eager to know more about Longlegs.

“Excellent teaser. Now THIS is how you get me interested in a horror film,” wrote one YouTube user. “For some reason, analogue horror gets under my skin REAL BAD… I’m gonna have to check this movie now,” said another.

Over on TikTok, where the trailer has found real traction with horror fans, viewers have been equally as intrigued. One user described it as one of “the best teaser trailers” they had seen in a long time and said, “that first picture of the family is so unnerving”. “Why was this trailer so scary,” asked another.

The movie is expected to release in 2024, although the exact date is unconfirmed at the time of writing.
