Three New EA Games To Be Revealed in July, Says Report

While 2022 has seen a decent amount of big game releases, it’s been pretty lacklustre compared with previous years. Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West were the big two that came out a few months ago. But as for the later months of 2022, the schedule has been looking fairly thin. Especially since the announcement that Starfield has been pushed back to 2023. However, a new report suggests that Electronic Arts (EA) will be announcing three new games in July from some of its biggest series, so there might be more to get excited about after all…

New EA Games To Be Announced in July

Back in March, EA confirmed that the regular EA Play event wouldn’t be happening this year. That’s usually the event where the company announces most of their big upcoming releases. Instead, they explained they would focus on individual showcases to reveal new games. This hasn’t changed – EA Play is still not happening. But it does look like we will still be getting some big reveals in July.

A new report from highly reliable industry insider Tom Henderson states that EA will be revealing FIFA 23, a new Need For Speed, and Skate 4 in July.

FIFA 23

OK – so this one isn’t much of a surprise. FIFA is one of the most popular video games in the world and a new yearly release is a foregone conclusion at this point. However, up until now, EA haven’t revealed anything about the new soccer title. And, if they’re sticking to the usual September/October release window, a July announcement would make complete sense.

Interestingly, FIFA 23 will be the last EA produced football/soccer game to bear the “FIFA” name. 2023’s installment is set to be named “EA Sports FC” since the FIFA licensing deal will have expired. There were also rumours that FIFA 23 would be taking the free-to-play route. But this new report suggests that isn’t the case and that it will be a regular full-priced game.

Need For Speed

Ever since 2013’s Need for Speed Rivals, EA have released a new Need for Speed game every two years. The last entry, Need for Speed Heat, came out in 2019. It was revealed that August and released in November. As a result, it’s certainly likely that the announcement of a new NFS title is imminent and that we’ll be getting our hands on it this year.

The working title is rumoured to be “Need for Speed: Unbound” – but that won’t be confirmed until the official announcement. Insider Jeff Grubb has said that the new Need for Speed game will combine anime elements with photo-realistic graphics – whatever that means.

Skate 4

It might not feel like it, but it’s been more than 12 years since the release of Skate 3. Back in 2020, EA announced that Skate 4 was in development – but we’ve not seen any details since then. However, it now seems that we will be getting our first real look at Skate 4 in July.

There are rumours that the new game will simply be titled “Skate” and will be a reboot rather than a sequel. As with FIFA 23, there’s also been talk that it will be free-to-play. Although, again, neither of these things have been confirmed and won’t be until the official announcement.
