It might not feel like it but The Sims 4 is ten-years-old this year. Fans have poured countless hours into the game and it remains a firm favourite among its loyal player base. Nevertheless, we all get bored eventually. Well, there’s good news: The Sims 5 is on the way and we’ve even got our first glimpse of it courtesy of leaked gameplay.

The leaked video is just over five minutes long and gives a good lookk at what players can expect in The Sims 5, which is being developed under the “Project Rene” codename.

The graphics aren’t anything to write home about; however, it’s important to remember that the video comes from a playtest build of the game. This means that it isn’t final as the game is still in active development.

The footage, which was leaked over on Reddit by u/DzXAnt22, is of the Android version running through an emulator. It contains numerous noteworthy moments that will be of interest to fans of the series including resizing and reshaping furniture, adding accents, building a room, and a flyover of the city.

Additionally, the Reddit leaker shared three images of unfinished character models. These give a good glimpse of the game’s art style (even though they are missing their eyes which is pretty creepy!)

Project Rene was announced back in 2022 and is being touted by EA as “the next generation of The Sims”.

At present, EA has not shared a planned release date for the game. However, it will be free-to-play like The Sims 4 when it does arrive.
