We are now four episodes into HBO’s The Last Of Us and it is picking up steam. After last week’s fantastic but heart-rending tale of Frank and Bill, the latest episode ratcheted up the action and introduced some new characters. But who is Kathleen in The Last Of Us game?
Joel and Ellie are now well into their journey across post-pandemic America. They have already encountered their fair share of Infected. But now attention has been shifted towards what is perhaps an even more deadly threat – other people.
After leaving Bill and Frank’s with a stocked up truck, Joel and Ellie venture towards Kansas City, Missouri. Much of this episode’s opening scenes are expertly lifted straight from the first The Last Of Us game. So anyone who’s played them knows what’s coming.
After arriving at a blocked tunnel, Joel decides the pair need to venture through the seemingly deserted urban jungle to avoid a huge detour.
Once inside the city, Joel and Ellie get lost and discover that the QZ is abandoned. Soon, they come across an apparently injured man pleading for help. Joel, wise to the hunter’s antics, tells Ellie to buckle up and ploughs the car past the man.
Things quickly turn bad when the truck crashes into an old store and the hunters start firing on Joel and Ellie. An intense action scene ensues but eventually Joel and Ellie kill the hunters.
We then learn that the hunters were part of a bigger community of survivors that overthrew FEDRA. They are led by Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey).
But who is Kathleen and is she in The Last Of Us game?
Who Is Kathleen in The Last Of Us game?
So far, The Last Of Us TV show has been incredibly faithful to the first video game. Many of its scenes have been lifted directly from the game and recreated word-for-word.
There have been a few changes for the benefit of television including slight modifications and additions to the story. But overall, it remains a faithful re-telling of the classic PlayStation game.
Until this week, the series was yet to introduce a major character who hadn’t appeared in the game. But that has now changed.
Who is Kathleen in The Last Of Us game? Kathleen does not appear in the game. She is a completely new and original character created just for The Last Of Us TV show.
Kathleen is portrayed by Two And A Half Men actress Melanie Lynskey. She is the leader of a group of hunters that occupy downtown Kansas City.
The hunters ambush Joel and Ellie as they attempt to drive through the city. In retaliation, Joel kills the hunters which sparks a city-wide manhunt.
Concurrently, Kathleen is eager to capture brothers Henry and Sam. They are two rebels who fled from her community.
As Kathleen is a character unique to the show, it will be interesting to see what happens to her. Viewers who previously played the games won’t have any advanced knowledge about her story.
