The Brothers Sun hit Netflix on 3 January, plunging viewers into Taiwan’s criminal underworld. This action-packed black comedy stars Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, and Sam Song Li. It focuses on two very different brothers reuniting after years apart.

When the notorious Triad boss, Big Sun, is assassinated by rival gang leader Sleepy Chan, his son Charles races to Los Angeles to safeguard his distant family.

Charles is a hardened criminal, adept at handling adversaries with his kung fu skills, while his brother Bruce is a socially awkward college student making ends meet as a Lyft driver.

In LA, Charles faces an ambush by Sleepy Chan’s henchmen. Meanwhile, Bruce returns home to find a stranger in his transformed brother, along with a dead man in their kitchen.

This event thrusts Bruce into the dangerous world of organised crime as he joins forces with his brother to track down Sleepy Chan and his crew.

But who is Sleepy Chan in The Brothers Sun? Let’s take a look.

He shows his face to Bruce when he uses the boy as an intermediary to negotiate with Charles.

Like his rival, Big Sun, Sleepy Chan is an older man. However, who speaks in poetic riddles. During his brief negotiation with Bruce, Chan reveals that he wasn’t behind Big Sun’s assassination and that he wants to team-up with Charles and his crew to fend off a common enemy who are searching for The Rolodex.

Unfortunately, Bruce’s broken Mandarin prevents him from properly understanding what Chan is saying. Before he can get his head around things, two assailants emerge from two ball pits behind Chan and murder him.

When Charles realises what has happened, he rushes to save Bruce and a fight ensues. Before long, he’s fighting off attackers alongside Sleepy Chan’s son, Drowsy Lee.

In a shock twist, Drowsy Lee is also killed when one of the henchmen pulls the pin on a grenade and wraps his arms around Lee.
