EA has unveiled new story details about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to 2019’s Fallen Order, with a new story trailer.

Survivor features a more mature Cal Kestis and takes place half a decade after the previous game. “It’s been a long five years,” Cal explains at the start of the new trailer.

Despite efforts to repel them, the Empire has expanded their reach. They are getting ever closer to Cal and his allies. As time moves on, the Empire are becoming more ruthless in their efforts to find and kill the survivors of Order 66.

Familiar faces Cere Junda, Greez Dritus, and Dathomirian Nightsister Merrin return in the sequel. Robot sidekick BD-1 is also back. Furthermore, newcomer Bode Akuna – a mercenary – has joined Cal’s mission to find a new safe haven outside the Empire’s control.

The action packed trailer shows off Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s impressive visuals, trademark lightsaber battles, and double-team combat. We also get a glimpse of the locations Cal and co will visit in the new game. EA has said these include “new planets and familiar frontiers” like Koboh, the home of the Bedlam Raiders.

As seen in the trailer, the game will also feature Kylo Ren’s trademark cross-guard lightsaber. “It’s weighty; it’s beefy. But you have to be very measured on how you use it because the timing windows are longer with the [cross-guard] blade,” game director Stig Asmussen told Game Informer.

According to EA, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor “takes full advantage of the current generation of gaming hardware and will deliver the ultimate cinematic Jedi experience”. It is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 28 April 2023.
