Helldivers 2 has been the gaming success story of 2024. Coming from relative obscurity as a sequel to 2015’s Helldivers, the game has taken the world by storm as millions of players have joined the fight against the Terminids and Automatons on behalf of Super Earth.

Now, an industry journalist has claimed that Sony are in early talks to release Helldivers 2 on Xbox, which is currently only playable on PS5 and PC.

Speaking on TheXboxEra Podcast, Nick Baker stated that he has heard preliminary talks are underway with regards to bringing the hugely popular shooter to an all new audience on Xbox.

“We know that PlayStation has a new CEO at the moment, and I think this CEO might be a little more open to certain things. So, what I’ve heard, just a rumour that I’ve heard, is that there may be some very, very early, very early, preliminary discussions about the possibility of Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox,” said Nick.

As Nick explains, this isn’t confirmation that the game is definitely coming to Xbox. However, a move like this does make sense if Sony are looking to broaden the player-base of its thriving live service game.

Most recently, Helldivers joined together to slay 2 billion Terminids for a major order. This remarkable culling was completed in less than a day. Clearly, there’s still a huge amount of enthusiasm for the game that, as of now, Xbox players are missing out on.
