The first game was something of a cult hit but Sons of the Forest has smashed all expectations. Despite being in early access, fans are eagerly jumping into the game’s immense world and discovering everything it has to offer.
Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game that sees you stranded in a dense forest inhabited by murderous cannibals and mysterious creatures. After your helicopter crash lands, you and fellow survivor Kelvin must scavenge what you can, craft weapons, and build shelters in order to survive.
The game can be played as a testing single-player experience or in co-operative multiplayer. Either way, you need to overcome everything the forest throws at you by travelling far and wide to uncover its secrets.
Scavenging for resources is a big part of Sons of the Forest. Rudimentary materials can be combined into weapons, tools, and structures. These can then be used to streamline your survival experience and give you some respite from the harsh enviroment.
Many of the game’s most important items can be found scattered around the large map – which is four times bigger than its predecessor’s. However, some items and materials must be created from scratch.
One item that fans are keen to get is the sled. It was a popular item in The Forest and it returns in Sons of the Forest. The sled can be used to travel at high speeds.

How To Get The Sled in Sons of the Forest
As mentioned, many of the items in Sons of the Forest can be found around the map. However, that isn’t the case for every useful tool or weapon in the game.
The sled is one of the items players will be most eager to obtain. But it must be created from scratch at a 3D printer.
If you’re just starting out in the game, that might sound odd. But the 3D printer you need can be found inside one of the game’s underground bunkers.
This is how to get the sled in Sons of the Forest:
1 – Go to the underground bunker shown on the map above.
2 – In the safe room, load the 3D printer up with 1000ml of printer resin. N.B. the printer’s display only shows up to 999ml.
3 – On the laptop to the right of the printer, select the sled option.
4 – Wait for the printer to produce the sled then collect it when complete.
How To Use The Sled in Sons of the Forest
Once you have the Sled, you will probably be wondering what you can do with it.
The sled has only one use in Sons of the Forest – travelling down hills at high speed. This makes navigating the game’s hills and mountains significantly easier.
This is how to use the sled in Sons of the Forest: With the sled equipped, jump in the air and left-click. You will then start sliding down hill instead of taking fall damage.
Unfortunately, the sled cannot be used to transport materials and resources such as logs. So, you will need to roll up your virtual sleeves and carry those by hand – or get Kelvin to do it.
