The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has one of the most dedicated fanbases in all of gaming. It came out more than ten-years ago, yet it’s still enjoyed regularly by tens of thousands of players. That’s probably because Skyrim offers players the chance to step into the shoes of a Dragonborn, someone with the blood and soul of a dragon.

Dragonborn have the ability to do Dragon Shouts, an ancient form of magic also known as Thu’um that use Words of Power to produce magical effects for offensive purposes.

Once upon a time, Dragon Shouts were prevalent in Skyrim; however, the art was gradually lost to time. In the game, the player character – a Dragonborn – can rediscover and learn Dragon Shouts to aid them on their journey.

Each Shout is made up of three words and have a wide array of different effects to aid the user in different situations. This makes them incredibly versatile and valuable.

Over on Reddit, fans have been discussing which Dragon Shouts would be the best to use in real life. u/winteregg05 posed the question: “If you could pick one Shout to use in the real world, what would it be?”

In the comments, fans discussed their choices and shared some perfectly logical (and sometimes hilarious) reasons for the Shout they picked.

One fan picked Ethereal saying, “being able to opt out of damage in exchange for not attacking people seems like a good deal.”

“As an added bonus you could go skydiving without a parachute and just go ethereal before you hit the ground,” replied another.

Another fan said that Clear Skies would be an excellent pick for insurance companies. “Clear Skies. Could you imagine how much insurance companies would pay for someone to disperse hurricanes?”

Someone else replied and explained how they could team up to use Clear Skies and Storm Call to their advantage. “I’ll take storm call, you take clear skies, and then we start a weather protection racket where I call storms and then you get people to pay you to make it stop.” Truly evil stuff.

One Reddit user came up with an idea to extend their life indefinitely using the Drain Vitality shout (although I’m also thinking they should definitely consider moving). “I could literally steal the life force and energy of every cockroach in my house and probably become damn near invincible.”

As for Skyrim‘s first and most famous Shout, Unrelenting Force (or ‘Fus ro dah’), someone said they would use it to deal with people who are in their way, explaining that they “hate slow walkers.”
