Sifu is the challenging beat em’ up that everyone’s talking about. It demands perfection from the player. And the only way to improve your skills is through practise and trial and error. However, you can spend your in-game Score on boons at shrine statues and these are massively beneficial. Three boons can be purchased with your Score. They are Structure Regain, Focus Regain, and Parry Impact. But what’s the quickest way to build Score in Sifu? By taunting. It’s a feature many will miss and one that Sifu never explicitly tells you about. So, you probably want to know how to taunt in Sifu and what exactly it does…

How to Taunt in Sifu

The fastest way to build your Score in Sifu is by boosting the Score multiplier. The Score multiplier is the on-screen counter that appears when you’re fighting and defeating enemies. The multiplier depletes when you are damaged or take too long in between hits, and you’ll have to build it again. But if you’re finding it difficult to maintain and build your Score multiplier, Taunts can be a huge help.

This is how to Taunt in Sifu. Simply approach an enemy and press the right button on the d-pad. If you’re playing on PC and using a keyboard, the 3 key will trigger a Taunt. Following a brief animation and dialogue from the player, the Score multiplier will be boosted. That means if you immediately go on to defeat a group of enemies after taunting, you’ll receive a big multiplier bonus.

Just remember to only Taunt when it’s safe to do so – usually before a fight has commenced. Taunting mid-fight is tricky, and will need to be timed just right to avoid taking unnecessary damage. Sifu is a merciless game, so any minor mistakes will end up costing you.
