Resident Evil 4 remake: How to unlock Wayshrines (key location)

This guide explains how to unlock Wayshrines in Resident Evil 4 and the key location.

A number of Wayshrines can be found around the village in Resident Evil 4. They look like small religious alters and have a locked box in the middle.

The locked box requires a special key with a unique shape. However, it isn’t possible to get the Wayshrine key until Chapter 4.

Once you have the Wayshrine key, go back and unlock all the Wayshrines to ensure you don’t miss out on any valuable items. These can be sold to the Merchant for a hefty chunk of cash and can be made even more valuable by inlaying gemstones.

It isn’t essential to unlock the shrines but the money you can get from doing so is well worth the effort. Please note, after reaching the Castle you won’t be able to go back and unlock any of the ones you missed.
