Report: New PlayStation games ready to be shown, says insider

New PlayStation games are ready to be shown by the studios working on them, according to a new report. It appears the titles may be revealed at a PlayStation Showcase event later this month or in June. PlayStation Showcases are typically far more newsworthy than smaller State of Play events, show off more significant titles, and set the stage for the foreseeable future of PlayStation.

On his Game Mess Decides podcast in February, Jeff Grubb suggested that a Showcase event would “likely come before E3”. The now cancelled E3 2023 event was scheduled to run from 13th-16th June. That means if Grubb’s claims are correct, a Showcase event is due very soon.

The report comes from industry insider Shinobi602. Posting to ResetEra, they said: “I don’t know what Sony’s exact plans are when it comes to a showcase or State of Plays and all that. But I know a good amount of teams are at a point where things are certainly ready to be shown.”

Exactly which games will be shown during a future PlayStation event is unknown. However, rumours regarding numerous new PlayStation games have been swirling for some time. Shinobi602 said the prospect of the new games being shown is “exciting”.

As nothing has been confirmed regarding a PlayStation Showcase or new games, it’s best treat this report with a degree of suspicion for now. With that being said, it seems we can expect some big PlayStation news at some point soon.
