Redfall launches on 2 May exclusively for Xbox and PC. The game, which is published by Bethesda and developed by Arkane Austin, will also debut on Game Pass on the same date. However, it appears that physical copies of Redfall are being shipped with a sticker that reads “60 FPS PERFORMANCE MODE NOT AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH”.

This sticker was apparently spotted by Twitter user @JezCorden. It contradicts the game box’s official description which lists “60 Frames Per Second” as a feature of Redfall.

Most games that launch on Xbox Series X and/or PS5 feature the choice of a 60 FPS Performance mode or a higher resolution Quality mode with fewer frames. This could be the first instance of a game touting the feature on the box with it unavailable at launch.

The sticker is likely to be genuine as it corroborates a tweet by Redfall developer Arkane which stated that the “60 FPS Performance mode will be added via game update at a later date.”

Redfall is named for a fictional town in Massachusetts, USA which is also the setting of the game. The town is invaded by vampires following a failed scientific experiment, and players are trapped inside. There are four unique survivors to choose from who must fight against the vampires and human collaborators.

The game is a first-person shooter that offers both single player and co-op modes. Each of the four playable characters have their own unique abilities that they can use to combat the vampires.

According to Arkane, Redfall will launch only with Quality mode. This will be set at 4K 30 FPS on Xbox Series X and at 1440p 30 FPS on Series S. Arkane are yet to confirm when Performance mode will be added to the game.
