PS5 How To Change Theme

Can you change the look of the PS5's Home Screen?

So, you’ve finally gotten your hands on a PS5. The first thing you’ll see once initial setup is complete is the Home Screen. That’s where you’ll find your games, friends, trophies, parties, and much, much more. And you’re probably wondering how you can customise its appearance to make it truly your own. After all, the PS3 and PS4 included the ability to apply different wallpapers and themes. And that means the PS5 must do, too – right? Well, here’s what we know about how to change theme on PS5…

How to change Theme on PS5

The PS5’s Home Screen is dynamic. That means its appearance will change depending on the application you have selected. You’ll see this when you hover on a game. The background will change and sometimes the music does, too. But can you completely and permanently change the way it looks?

This is how to change theme on PS5. Unfortunately, you can’t – yet. The PS5 doesn’t include the ability to change themes like the PS3 and PS4 did. But it’s important to remember that those consoles didn’t have that feature for some time, either. While changing the theme is nice, it’s hardly essential. And it’s likely a feature that’s on Sony’s list for a future PS5 update.

Despite being unable to change theme on PS5, you can customise the Home Screen experience to a degree. This includes customising the Control Center, switching off background music and sound effects, and disabling pop-up notifications. Over time, it’s safe to assume Sony will expand on the Home Screen’s customisability. But right now, it’s fairly limited. Of course, we’ll be sure to update you once we know about themes for PS5. And hopefully you’ll be enjoying a unique Home Screen experience sooner than later.
