Redfall has arrived and it’s not looking good for Arkane’s latest first person shooter. Lacklustre reviews are stacking up and players are taking to social media to voice their frustrations with the game. Redfall pits up to four players in a battle for survival against vampires in the eponymous fictional town of Redfall, Massachusetts. Complaints about the game include its numerous bugs and glitches, poor enemy AI, dull graphics, and an underwhelming loot system. Now, one player has taken to Reddit to share a Redfall montage that showcases “everything you need to know” about it – and not in a good way.
While Redfall has launched to such a dire reception, its release was anticipated by many. That’s because its developer Arkane is known for well-received games such as Deathloop and Dishonored. As an Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive, it was also hoped that Redfall would be a standout title for Microsoft’s console after such meagre offerings in recent years.
After experiencing a number of problems with Redfall, Reddit user u/Osiris121 posted a 42-second video highlighting the game’s issues. The montage includes footage of broken movement and combat animations, laughably dumb enemies, hard crashes, poor hit detection, and more.
The post – which has 3.6k upvotes at the time of writing – generated a strong response from other Reddit users. u/slumblebee said: “This looks like one of those sh**ty early access games on steam”. Another user felt the same way, commenting: “This game looks so s**t lol”.
Meanwhile, user u/Terramorphous2_0 thought it continued a disappointing trend for modern video games: “My list of “avoid this game for now” games is getting very long as the years progress.” u/TouhouWitch also pointed out a strange character model glitch: “Did anybody notice the leg stomping the guy’s head had 2 knee joints?” One user simply voiced their surprise at the state of Redfall considering which studio made it: “Arkane wtf have you done”, they wrote.
Redfall is available now for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
