Hyperrealistic body-cam games seem to be all the rage at the moment. Just a few weeks ago, gameplay footage of Unrecord – a body-cam FPS game – went viral and sent excited gamers into a frenzy. Now, a new trailer for the found footage horror game Paranormal Tales is drawing similar enthusiasm.

Paranormal Tales was first announced back on 25 October 2022 with a terrifying reveal trailer. It showed an unnamed protagonist searching for his dog, Teddy, in a dark woodland area. From the perspective of his body-cam and aided only by a weak flashlight, the man looks between the trees as he calls out to his pup. In a hair-raising moment, the haunting figure of a woman wearing a white dress is seen in the distance. She then lunges forwards towards the man and shocks viewers with a jump-scare.

The initial trailer was well received by horror fans. In the comments, one viewer remarked: “This looks phenomal, Digging the Blair Witch found footage vibes”. Another said, “Man this game looks glorious, good luck on release day!”

On 2 May, the developers dropped a new trailer that showed footage eerily reminiscent of the original Paranormal Activity movie. Dubbed “The_Man_Downstairs.mp4”, the trailer follows the protagonist as he investigates creepy goings on inside a modern home.

If you’ve seen the trailer, you will no doubt have been impressed by the game’s realistic graphics and seriously unnerving vibe. Paranormal Tales looks like it could set the bar for modern horror games.

So, let’s go over everything you need to know about the new body-cam horror game.
