CEO of Pocket Pair, Takuro Mizobe, the developer and publisher behind Palworld, has hinted at merchandise and a trading card game (TCG) for the smash-hit game.

Palworld, which released in early access on 19 January, sold more than six million copies in the first four days following its launch and has shot to the top of Steam’s top sellers chart.

On 27 January, Mizobe shared a photo on X of trading cards featuring a number of Palworld creatures including Lamball, Cattiva, Chikipi, Foxparks, and Grizzbolt.

Alongside the photo, Mizobe wrote: “I’m having a lot of fun making and playing card games at work, but I’m going back to work.”

In the image, three slightly different variations of Palworld trading cards are visible implying that a potential TCG is in development with the final design still to be decided.

While Mizobe did not explicitly confirm that a Palworld trading card game is in the works, this tease is sure to excite fans of the wildly popular survival game.

Hints of a trading card game only add to the Pokémon plagiarism controversy that has plagued Palworld since its launch, with the former having its own well-established TCG.

On 25 January, The Pokémon Company released a statement in which they said, “We intend to investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to the Pokémon.”

Models of pals Swee and Gumoss are also visible in the image that Mizobe shared, leading fans to speculate that Palworld merch might also be on the way.
