Activision has revealed what fans can expect in the upcoming Season 1 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. The game hit shelves last month and fans are due to get their first dose of new content with the seasonal update on 6 December. It will include new weapons and killstreaks for players to get their hands on.
Season 1 will see the introduction of the latest iteration of Warzone, Call of Duty‘s incredibly popular battle royale mode. While that will be the highlight of the update, there’s a lot of other content for fans to sink their teeth into.
New weapons have long been a staple of seasonal updates in Call of Duty. Usually, the new guns are positioned as the game’s meta choices, so it’s always important to unlock them and try them out as quickly as possible.
This time, there are five new weapons to gear up with. What’s more, there are also two new killstreaks that players will be able to take advantage of.
New Weapons
If there wasn’t already enough weapons between those introduced in Modern Warfare III and those carried over from last year’s game, there are five more coming on 6 December. They are:
- XRK Stalker – one-shot .50 Cal sniper rifle.
- RAM-7 – compact and lightweight bullup assault rifle.
- Stormender – EMP launcher capable of destroying Killstreaks and tactical and lethal equipment.
- HRM-9 – lightweight 9mm submachine gun with a high fire rate and strong handling.
- TAQ Evolvere – LMG with a large choice of attachments and the option of firing either 7.62 or 5.56 caliber rounds.
The first three weapons will be available via the Battle Pass. The HRM-9 and the TAQ Evolvere will be released in-season.
New Killstreaks
Alongside the all-new firearms, Season 1 is also introducing two new multiplayer Killstreaks that will be unlockable from the start of the season via an Armory Challenge. They are:
- Swarm (15 kills, 1,875 points) – “Deploys a large number of mosquito drones to provide blanket coverage over the entire area.”
- EMP (13 kills, 1,625 points) – “Electromagnetic pulse to disrupt enemy Killstreaks and equipment.”
