One month after the release of Season 3, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is set to get its mid-season Reloaded update on 10 May. The new update will include additions and changes to Modern Warfare II, Warzone, and DMZ. For the latter, this will include the new Koschei Complex area.

DMZ received some of the most significant changes in Season 3. The introduction of Active Duty, the ability to swap between three Operators, and the inclusion of new armour vests and backpacks changed many of the mode’s fundamentals for the better.

In the official Season 3 Reloaded blog post, the Koschei Complex was described as a “new DMZ experience”. The underground area promises to reward players who are brave enough to enter. “Take the high risk and earn valuable rewards by entering the Koschei Complex. We hope you’re not afraid of the dark,” reads the official description.

Over on Twitter, the official Call of Duty account wrote: “Somewhere in Al Mazrah, an underground Koschei Complex is brewing something that could shift the entire DMZ as we know it”. The tweet also included a teaser imager showing three operators inside a flooded underground facility.

The word “Koschei” comes from Russian folklore where it is the name of an immortal being who hides his soul inside nested objects. The use of this name could imply that DMZ’s Koschei Complex will host numerous secrets for players to find.

The official blog post provided a partially redacted description of what players can expect from the new DMZ area.

Operators must find a way to locate one of multiple entrances to this subterranean bunker complex , open it . . . and [[REDACTED]]. Be proactive in adding illumination to your hardware; flashlights might be needed as you venture further into this [[REDACTED]]. Secure NVGs once you’ve reconnoitered the [[REDACTED]], expecting some of the toughest [[REDACTED]] outside of Building 21!

The post concludes that it will be up to players to discover what the Koschei Complex has to offer when Season 3 Reloaded launches on 10 May.
