Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 kicks off on 12 April. The long-awaited new season will bring plenty of fresh content to both games. In DMZ – CoD‘s extraction mode – fans can look forward to new backpacks in Season 3 along with many other new additions.

According to Activision, Season 3 will see a significant “overhaul” of DMZ. Despite this, the backpack feature will remain and is being expanded.

Currently, there are three types of backpacks in DMZ – small, medium, and large. Small backpacks have enough space for a handful of items. Medium backpacks grant players an additional weapon slot and more room for items. Large backpacks also provide a third weapon slot and feature maximum item capacity.

So, aside from capacity, there is little difference between the three and they have no special attributes. That is set to change in Season 3.

What are the new DMZ Season 3 backpacks?

Season 3 will introduce two new types of backpacks. These are the new Season 3 backpacks in DMZ:

  • Secure Backpack
  • Scavenger Backpack

As with the mode’s new armor plate carriers, these backpacks provide more tactical options for players in DMZ. So, what do they do?

Secure Backpack

The Secure Backpack is arguably the most interesting and useful out of the pair. It allows you to ‘secure’ “non-Contraband, non-on-soldier items” between DMZ deployments. Unlike with other backpacks, items held in a Secure Backpack won’t be converted into XP when you exfil from an extraction zone.

Additionally, items in a Secure Backpack will remain on an Active Duty Soldier even if they die in DMZ.

Scavenger Backpack (DMZ Season 3 backpacks)

While certainly less noteworthy than its Secure counterpart, the Scavenger Backpack will still prove useful for players. They are designed for collecting large amounts of items and remove the third weapon slot to accommodate this. Players will have many more item slots to make use off with a Scavenger Backpack.
