Send Transmission to H7 in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies MWZ

This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies (MWZ) guide explains how to complete the “Send Transmission to H7” Chessboard puzzle to open the Vault.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has arrived and players are getting stuck into the brand-new MWZ Zombies mode.

MWZ is based on the formula of Modern Warfare II‘s DMZ mode. Players drop in and loot up before exfilling within the set time limit. In between times, you can complete missions, battle hordes of zombies and uncover all the secrets that are littered around the map.

Many players have come across one of the four mysterious phones which come with the prompt “Send Transmission to H7”. This is part of what is being called the Chessboard easter egg.

The “Chessboard” name comes from the chessboard which appears outside the Vault.

Solving the Chessboard puzzle gives players access to the Vault underneath Shahin Manor at map coordinates H7. Inside the vault, players can get their hands on aether tools, wonder weapons, killstreaks and more! This makes completing the easter egg worth the effort.

So, let’s take a look at how to complete the “Send transmission to H7” Chessboard easter egg in Modern Warfare III Zombies (MWZ).

Send Transmission to H7 – Chessboard Puzzle Guide

This is how to complete the “Send Transmission to H7” Chessboard puzzle to open the Vault in Modern Warfare III Zombies (MWZ):

To open the Vault, players must find and activate four devices which send a transmission to H7. Each one activates a light above the Vault door below Shahin Manor. Three of the devices can be obtained by defeating three bosses around Urzikstan: The Knight, The Bishop, and The Rook. The fourth device, The Pawn, can be found inside a boat house in the north east.

Check out the individual guides for each device below.

The Bishop

The Bishop can be found inside the railway tunnel at map coordinates D1. He is accompanied by several mercenaries.

Once defeated, he drops a device (look for the floating blue glow) which sends a transmission to H7.

The Knight

Unlike the other two bosses, The Knight moves around the map. The easiest way to find this boss is to drive around the railway line until you come across him in an armoured truck.

If you did The Bishop prior to this, just head down the railway in either direction. You should come across The Knight before completing a full loop. In my experience, I have found him in both the north and south of the map.

When defeated, he will also drop a device.

The Rook

The Rook is a ghillie suit clad sniper that can be found on a top floor balcony in the hotel at map coordinates C5.

When approaching from inside the hotel, be aware of traps including proximity mines and Sentry Turrets.

After finishing him off, he will also drop a device.

The Pawn

Unlike the other three devices, The Pawn just has to be collected. There is no associated boss to defeat.

This device can be found inside the small boat house at map coordinates I1.

Open the Vault

Once all four devices have been activated, it is time to open the Vault at H7.

The Vault can be reached by either taking the descend zip line from inside Shahin Manor or by going into the cave inlet in the adjacent shoreline.

Once inside the underground complex, look for the Vault door with four lights above it. If all four are lit, you completed the necessary steps correctly and you can open the Vault.

Be aware, the Vault contains the King – a mimic boss which you will need to kill. The King is relatively easy to defeat if you’ve got a Level 1 Pack-a-Punch weapon.

After dealing with the King, the loot inside the Vault is yours to keep.
