This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (MW3) guide explains what Snowballs are in Zombies and what they do.

Call of Duty‘s seasonal events are always exciting times for players. During Halloween 2023, we were treated to The Haunting. This brought an array of spooky happenings to MW3 and Warzone. Now Christmas is upon us and Activision has launched the Santa’s Slayground event.

This event gives players the chance of winning a whole host of festive unlockables. But it has also brought some fun Christmas-themed changes to Warzone, Zombies, and multiplayer.

In Zombies, the undead can now be seen wearing Christmas lights and Santa hats. Meanwhile, Hellhounds have been transformed into Hellreindeer. Additionally, you may have noticed a new map marker for “Snowballs”.

But what are Snowballs in MW3 Zombies and what exactly do they do?

What are Snowballs in MW3 Zombies?

“Snowballs” in MW3 Zombies replace your lethal equipment with ten throwable snowballs. To acquire Snowballs, go to the snowflake marker on your tac-map. The snowballs will be inside a large cooler and appear as a rare special item.

Take that, zombie.

When thrown at zombies, Snowballs temporarily stun them and deal a small amount of damage. This can be handy if you’re being chased by a number of undead and have run out of ammo. However, Snowballs are far from the most useful pieces of lethal equipment in the game and you will likely be at a disadvantage if you decide to use them for any length of time.

They are simply a fun festive addition to the mode that provide some momentary comic relief when you throw them at zombies.
