MW3 Zombies: Players loading in without weapons or gear (bug)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III isn’t off to the best start. Its campaign leaves a lot to be desired. However, its multiplayer offering is receiving some praise from the CoD community and Zombies is a fun time. With that being said, Zombies isn’t problem-free. During our extensive playtime in Zombies so far, we encountered numerous instances of our operators loading in without weapons or gear.

Weapons and gear are hard-earned in MW3‘s Zombies mode (known as MWZ). Unlike previous iterations of Zombies, MWZ is based on Warzone‘s DMZ mode which is an extraction-based looter shooter. In DMZ, players must scavenge for better equipment. You must successfully extract it all from the game in order to keep everything for future deployments.

A common problem in DMZ were instances of players loading into a game without any weapons. As this meant you were then unable to extract with them, your weapons were effectively lost.

This issue is also present in MWZ but appears to be more frequent and problematic. Not only can you load into MWZ without weapons but your gear may also be missing. What this means is that players who have spent hours collecting valuable equipment and guns may lose everything in an instant when deploying into a game.

This happened to our squad approximately five times over our first two days with MWZ and caused us to lose significant progress.

At the time of writing, there is no official explanation for the bug and no fix has been issued.

This issue was present throughout DMZ’s first year and was not patched as part of any of the mode’s seasonal updates. Therefore, it is likely that the no weapons or gear bug in MWZ may persist for some time.

To make matters worse for players, there doesn’t appear to be any workaround to use in the meantime and there is no way of knowing exactly when you will be impacted by the bug.

The only thing you can do if you lose your weapons and equipment in MWZ is to collect everything again. Here’s hoping it is fixed soon and not left to spoil the experience for fans for another year.
