This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (MW3) guide details the Legacy Fortress location in Zombies.
Call of Duty MW3‘s Zombies mode (MWZ) is unlike the previous round-based experiences players will be familiar with. Instead, it is based on Warzone‘s DMZ mode. The primary focus of the mode is looting better weapons and equipment, completing missions, and successfully extracting from the exclusion zone.
Throughout the Urzikstan map, players will find Mercenary Strongholds. After unlocking them with a Mercenary Stronghold Keycard, you will find a safe to drill. Once the safe is open, you can collect a rare item called the Legacy’s Fortress Keycard.
As its name suggests, this unlocks a special mercenary fortress in the exclusion zone. But where is it and what should you expect when you get there? Having completed it for myself, I can explain everything you need to know.
Legacy Fortress Location in MW3 Zombies
Legacy’s Fortress is located at map coordinates D2 inside the orange zone.
To enter the fortress, you need to have the required keycard. So, ensure you have collected that first. Once you arrive outside the fortress, you will be met with an overwhelming number of aggressive mercenaries.
There are also numerous Sentry Guns guarding the fortress and attack helicopters. I strongly recommend Pack-a-Punching your weapons at least once and acquiring as many Perk-a-Colas as possible before attempting it.
The area will be incredibly difficult to complete without the help of other players. Therefore, you should avoid trying it solo wherever possible.
You can access the fortress itself by heading directly to the map marker and unlocking one of its doors. Inside are more enemy soldiers and countless traps. This includes inflatable decoys that detonate stun grenades when destroyed and tactically-placed suppression mines.
When you reach the top of the fortress, you will encounter mini-boss “Legacy” Baranov. Killing Baranov will complete the fortress and open a Reward Rift.
