This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (MW3) guide explains how to unlock the TAQ Evolvere quickly.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s Season 1 Reloaded update launched on Wednesday to a decidedly mixed reaction.
But, glitches aside, the latest update saw the introduction of a new light machine gun – the TAQ Evolvere.
As is often the case with new weapons in CoD games, players must complete certain in game challenges to unlock the Evolvere.
The criteria required to unlock the TAQ Evolvere simply states “Complete any 5 Challenges from Week 7”, referring to the game’s weekly challenges.
It is possible to unlock the new LMG by completing weekly challenges in either multiplayer, Warzone or Zombies. However, each game mode has its own unique challenges.
We think the easiest, quickest, and least stressful method is to play MW3’s Zombies mode. You can even do this in a single Zombies game, if you plan correctly.
The fastest way to unlock the TAQ Evolvere in MW3 Zombies
You can choose to complete any five of the total seven week 7 weekly challenges. By focusing on challenges you can complete simultaneously without having to use a variety of weapons, it is possible to unlock your shiny new LMG in one to two games of Zombies.
We recommend the following five challenges to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
1. Get 250 kills with shotguns at Epic (Purple) Rarity or Higher
You can use any shotgun for this particular challenge, but you’ll want to select a recommended shotgun to ensure you can also undertake challenge 2 simultaneously (see the step below).
We recommend that you deploy with an epic or legendary aether tool. Then it’s as simple as upgrading your shotgun to rare or legendary, and killing some zombies.
Make sure to use this gun for the next entry to save time.
In case you don’t have a rare or legendary aether tool, we recommend trying infested strongholds (especially in the tier 2 and 3 zones) and destroying harvester orbs.
2. Get 500 Fire Damage kills with a recommended weapon
This is where choosing a recommended shotgun in the previous step comes in.
All you need for this challenge is a recommended shotgun (which you’ll already have from the last step) and a Napalm Burst weapon mod.
Simply apply the mod to your shotgun at the same time as you upgrade its rarity, and any kills you get with your shotgun after applying the mod will count towards this challenge.
3. Get 75 Mercenary kills with a Recommended Weapon
This challenge is easily farmed in one game of Zombies. A recommended weapon is any weapon that has a flame symbol next to it in the loadout menu.
But you should already have a recommended weapon from the first two steps. Simply locate Mercenary Camps and Strongholds, or complete contracts which spawn Mercenaries. This includes Aether Extractor and Defend Ground Station contracts.
Be careful though, Mercenaries pack a punch!
4. Clear 5 Infested Strongholds
This is another straightforward challenge that can be easily completed in one game.
Simply check your tac-map and clear infested strongholds until the weekly challenge is complete. Of course, any kills you get doing this will count towards the first two steps.
5. Complete any one of the remaining challenges
The remaining four weekly challenges involve getting 300 kills/critical kills with specific attachments on the Holger 556, Sidewinder and Rival-9.
You can choose whichever one you prefer as you only need to complete one more challenge to unlock the TAQ Evolvere.
I went for the Rival-9 challenge (here’s a bonus tip for you) as you can also complete the new HMR9 SMG battle pass challenges at the same time.
As you need a specific attachment on your gun for this challenge to track, we recommend taking the gun in as a custom insured slot weapon. That’s because there is no guarantee you’ll receive the right attachments from the mystery box or wall buys.
So, there you have it. MWZ has a generous time limit, which should allow players with the right equipment to easily unlock the new TAQ Evolvere in one or two games of Zombies using our guide.
