This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (MW3) and Warzone guide explains what the Mosquito Drone does.
Killstreaks are a key part of Call of Duty‘s multiplayer and battle royale modes. And with each new game, new killstreaks are introduced. In MW3, one of these is the Mosquito Drone.
Given that it’s brand new, it’s understandable that players will likely be confused about exactly what it does. In Warzone, it is graded as a Legendary killstreak – so it must be pretty useful, right?
Unfortunately, many players (ourselves included, at least at first) are unsure how to use it. As a result, the drone is often overlooked and sometimes considered pointless. But that isn’t the case. In fact, this handy killstreak can come in clutch during sticky situations.
What does the Mosquito Drone do in Warzone?
The Mosquito Drone flies around the area you launched it in. When it spots an enemy, it will pursue them and explode on impact.
Therefore, if you suspect enemies are in the area but can’t see them, the Mosquito Drone can be used to track and down them.
This is especially useful during a final circle. You can launch the drone into the air and it will scan the confined area and hopefully get the jump on any remaining enemies before they spot you. It could actually be a major difference maker if used correctly and at the right moment.
Once you’ve launched the drone, you can see it on the map thanks to its blue icon. Enemy drones can also be seen on the map and have a red icon, so watch out for those.
