Call of Duty players have discovered an unexpected Breaking Bad easter egg in Modern Warfare III (MW3).

Fans noticed the surprise reference following the launch of MW3 Season 2, which debuted on 7th February.

The second season introduced a selection of new multiplayer maps. These included Stash House, Vista, and Departures.

Stash House – where the easter egg was found – is “a small but luxurious residence” with piles of cash stacked all over the place.

Its exterior resembles the White family residence from Breaking Bad, particularly its large driveway and garage.

This is where the easter egg comes in. Breaking Bad fans will likely remember the scene from the show where Walter White throws a pizza onto his garage roof.

For context, in the show’s third season, Walter is kicked out of the family home when his wife Skyler discovers his illicit activities. In the season three episode “Caballo Sin Nombre”, Walter drops his son Walt Jr. back at the house and brings pizza with him.

Despite Walt’s pleas, Skylar refuses to let Walt in and declines his request to eat pizza together. A frustrated Walt storms away from the house and hurls the pizza onto the garage roof.

The scene quickly grew into a fan-favourite and has been widely meme’d ever since it aired.

But how does this tie in with Call of Duty: MW3‘s Stash House map?

As explained, the Breaking Bad easter egg in MW3 can be found on the Stash House map. If you look closely, you can see a large pepperoni pizza on the garage roof.

While the easter egg hasn’t been specifically addressed by Activision, the reason for its inclusion is obvious.

Naturally, it didn’t take long for players to spot the pizza and post about it on social media.

As one of the best television shows of all time, it’s great to see Breaking Bad‘s legacy thriving more than ten years after its conclusion – even if it is in pizza form.

Here’s hoping that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are added to MW3 as operators one of these days.
