This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 guide explains what the Guardian-SC does.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is almost upon us. The game launches on 10 November 2023. But, before then, gamers have the chance to try out its multiplayer in the Open Beta. While it retains many familiar elements of previous CoD titles, it does change things up.

Notably, MW3 features some different killstreaks. One of these, which is seen regularly during multiplayer matches in the beta, is the Guardian-SC.

The Guardian-SC requires five kills and is notable for its distracting buzz. Long-time Call of Duty fans may know what the killstreak is used for. However, newer CoD players may be unsure how to make best use of it.

What does the Guardian-SC do in Modern Warfare 3?

The Guardian-SC is non-lethal and designed to make an area difficult to access or pass through. It does this by emitting a beam that causes effects similar to a stun grenade. Specifically, players will suffer blurred vision, slowed movement, and their UI will disappear.

Previously called the “Guardian”, it was also featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Black Ops III, and Call of Duty: Mobile.

The killstreak is most effective in objective-based game modes. If placed in the right position, it can be a difference maker in Hardpoint and Domination. Despite this, it does have some drawbacks. For example, it takes some time to place the Guardian-SC which can leave you open to being killed. Additionally, it can also be destroyed with relative ease which renders its benefits only temporary.

With all that being said, the Guardian-SC is a highly effective killstreak that is well worth taking advantage of in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer.
