“MG82 Warzone”. Before last week, those two words together weren’t even in our vocabulary. Now, they’re the blight of Call of Duty players everywhere.
It has been around for less than one week, yet Call of Duty Warzone‘s new MG82 LMG is already in need of a huge nerf.
This new and lethal weapon – which shreds through enemies in no time – is just the latest overpowered weapon to grace Warzone‘s arsenal. With it unlocking at tier 15 in the Season 4 Battle Pass, players have been able to get their hands on it in no time.
What’s more, the MG82 also drops as ground loot throughout Verdansk. And not just as your basic grey or green tier gun, either. But as fully kitted out purple and orange varieties, too. This means that the gun is everywhere. And with its ridiculous accuracy and laughably short time-to-kill, it will be the new meta.
MG82 Warzone: Why is it an issue?
Recently, it’s been reported that Raven – the developers behind Warzone – want to increase the game’s time-to-kill (TTK). This comes after months of complaints that even players with full armour die disastrously quickly.
It’s hard to argue that Warzone‘s TTK works in its favour. Compared to other battle royale games, it is much faster. And it creates combat scenarios that are incredibly one-sided – based simply on who saw who first. It simply isn’t conducive to a competitive environment.
When will the MG82 be nerfed?
We’ve talked about it on numerous occasions. But it’s crazy that even after all the complaints Raven have received about overpowered guns in Warzone since the release of Black Ops Cold War, we’re still having this discussion after every big update.
Thankfully, Raven have made a speedy pledge to nerf the MG82 in Warzone:
“The MG82 (BOCW) made one too many trips to the Pack-a-Punch machine before deploying to Verdansk.” they tweeted.
Judging by that tweet, we can expect to see a much needed nerf in the coming couple of weeks. Until then, Warzone fans are going to have to make do with a deadly new meta LMG.
