This Layers of Fear guide details the gate padlock combination during The Actor’s story.

Layers of Fear is the ultimate package for fans of the acclaimed psychological horror series. It includes the first two games and all their DLCs. But to sweeten the deal, they’ve been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 to bring the games into the current generation.

Not only that, but it adds a brand new story about The Writer. This provides a new perspective for the series’ overarching narrative.

After completing The Painter’s story, players check in with The Writer. Before long, The Actor’s story begins. The character awakens on an abandoned ship and must follow instructions from The Director.

Along the way, you encounter numerous puzzles. Early in the story, you will reach a locked gate that requires a padlock combination. But what is it?

If you want to find the combination for yourself, turn around from facing the gate and pick up the pirate’s eye patch in the birdcage. This will trigger the ceiling to partially collapse. Approach the debris and look up into the hole in the ceiling. You will see the combination written there — 339.
