New Leak Claims Last Of Us Remake Missing Key Improvement

The Last of Us remake – Part I – has been called a “cash grab” by many. And while its reveal trailer certainly showed off some sparkly visual improvements, it failed to excite fans.

Perhaps the primary reason for that is because the original game isn’t even a decade old. Yet Sony has deemed it worthy of a remake.

Its hefty $70 price tag hasn’t helped matters either. Now a new leak suggests The Last of Us Part I may cause further disappointment.

That’s because this “ground-up” remake apparently won’t improve the most essential element of the game – its gameplay.

This surprising information comes off the back of leaked footage and images of The Last of Us remake which found its way to ResetEra.

Most notably, the brief video shows a significant event involving Joel from the prologue.

As of writing, other leaked images of the The Last of Us Part I are still available on Imgur albeit in low quality. The pictures and footage have also been shared widely on Twitter if you fancy finding them for yourself.

No Gameplay Improvements In The Last of Us Remake

According to the post on ResetEra, the leaker provided some previously unknown details about the game.

“- Images/Footage Leaker claims there’s no gameplay improvements.

– Leaker says most gameplay improvements are animations and audio.

– Leaker says the game supports VRR, 4K40 FPS (Gameplay Mode) & 4K60Fps (Dynamic Mode).

– Leaker says the game will feature an array of new accessibility options as seen in The Last of Us: Part II, additionally when Joel upgrades a weapon you’ll now see him add attachments.”

Claims of no gameplay changes is counter to fans’ expectations. Many believed The Last of Us Part I‘s gameplay would at least be on par with 2020’s The Last of Us Part II.

However, the other leaked information is a somewhat positive sign. The Last of Us Part I will improve the original’s audio and animations, support VRR, offer different graphical/performance options, and provide contemporary accessibility options.

Despite this, potential buyers are unlikely to be impressed if Naughty Dog has failed to modernise the in-game action.
