This article explains who shot Leo (Ray) in Kaleidoscope.

Kaleidoscope is Netflix’s new heist drama series with a unique twist. Coming from the mind of Eric Garcia, Kaleidoscope presents its episodes in a random order but still manages to tell a coherent story.

While this distinctive twist is what’s drawing people to the series, Kaleidoscope‘s nail-biting story and engaging characters are what’s holding them. And none are more engaging than Leo (Giancarlo Esposito).

Leo Pap, known as Ray Vernon prior to his escape from prison, is a professional thief. Kaleidoscope tells the story of his mission to rob $7 billion from a vault belonging to his former partner, Roger Salas.

Depending on where you enter the story, there’s a lot of mystery surrounding the history of Ray and Roger (who was previously known as Graham).

As things evolve, it becomes clear that Ray, now going by Leo, isn’t motivated by the money in Roger’s vault – but by bringing him down.

If you’re reading this, you will have almost certainly seen the “Pink” episode. At the its conclusion, Leo is shot by a mystery assailant.

Because Netflix randomises Kaleidoscope‘s episodes for each viewer, I have no idea of knowing in what order you saw “Pink”. It could’ve been first – which would make for a really interesting jumping off point.

Whenever you watched it, you’re probably a bit confused about who shot Leo in Kaleidoscope. After all, the series never makes it explicitly clear. Thankfully, there’s a huge clue that give us a good indication of who pulled the trigger.

So, let’s take a look at who shot Leo (Ray) in Kaleidoscope

Who Shot Leo in Kaleidoscope?

“Pink” picks up six months after the Heist at SLS. Leo and crew are hiding from the authorities and Roger (now exposed as Graham) is incarcerated for his past crimes. What’s more, the effects of Leo’s Parkinson’s are now more pronounced than ever with our master thief struggling to walk and dress himself.

While things didn’t go exactly as planned for Leo’s gang, he still succeeded in bringing down Roger.

In an attempt to get some closure and despite his ailments, Leo visits Roger in prison where Roger asks if it was all worth it.

After Leo/Ray leaves, we see he is being watched by an individual wearing a t-shirt with a distinctive multi-coloured design on the front. The individual then follows Leo under a bridge where he apparently shoots him dead (although we only hear the gunshot).

The unique t-shirt is our biggest clue as to who shot Leo.

Who shot Leo (Ray) in Kaleidoscope? Based on the distinctive t-shirt the assailant was wearing, it appears that Roger Salas’ son, Brad, was the one who shot Leo (AKA Ray). This is because we see Brad wearing the same t-shirt in the “White” episode at around the 14-minute mark.

This makes sense as Brad would be angry about his father’s incarceration and would understandably want vengeance.

Kaleidoscope also carries the theme of revenge throughout. Leo sought revenge on Roger. As did Agent Abassi on Ava, and Hannah on Leo. As a result, it’s thematically consistent for Brad to take out Leo in an act of revenge for his father.
