If you’re an avid gamer who stays active on social media and Twitch, chances are you’ve already encountered a sensation called Only Up!. This viral sensation has taken TikTok and livestreams by storm, captivating the gaming community. Released on May 24, 2023, this indie 3D platformer takes players to soaring heights as they climb above the sky. However, be prepared for the intense risk involved, as that’s where the thrill truly lies. Falling means starting from scratch. If you’re reading this article, you’re probably asking “is Only Up! multiplayer?” because you want to experience the game with friends.

This immensely popular climbing game has been developed by SCKR Games. It casts you as Jackie, a teenager living in poverty but harboring dreams of embarking on grander and more exhilarating adventures.

Only Up! transports players to a world that’s “gone crazy,” granting Jackie the chance to live a completely different life, one where he scales all manner of peculiar and fantastical objects high above the bustling cityscape.

Your primary objective in Only Up! is to ascend as high as you can, uncovering the “secrets and mysteries” that lie beyond the clouds. The game’s appeal to the gaming community on social media stems from its impressive speedruns, but it’s equally captivating when players dedicate hours to climbing, only to falter and be compelled to start anew.

So, is Only Up! multiplayer or is it just single player?

Is Only Up! multiplayer?

Is Only Up! multiplayer? As confirmed on the game’s Steam listing, Only Up! is not multiplayer and SCKR Games has not commented if or when a multiplayer mode will ever become available. Consequently, it is currently single player only.

While the game is undeniably addictive as a single player experience, the challenge of racing your friends on the way up would be exhilarating. Being a climbing game, Only Up! is all about balance – and multiplayer would allow you to sabotage your opponent by knocking them off course and watching them fall all the way to the bottom. Now, that sounds fun.

Another option would be the introduction of a multiplayer mode that allows you to race against the ghosts of other players. This way, you could test your timing without the pressure of competing in real-time.

A co-op multiplayer mode could also make for an interesting addition to Only Up!. Helping your friends and other players scale the huge vertical world would change the game’s dynamic in an intriguing way while also making long runs less lonely.

Of course, the game has only recently come out. So, there’s still a good chance that a multiplayer mode could be added at some point int he future. Hopefully, an addition as quick and simple as a global leaderboard (to allow players to compare times) could help foster some healthy competition between players in the meantime.
