Hogwarts Legacy will land on current-gen consoles and PC exactly one month today. And it looks set to be one of the biggest releases of the year with pre-orders through the roof. However, there’s one question on many fans’ minds: is JK Rowling involved in Hogwarts Legacy?
A few years ago, any Harry Potter die-hard would hope that the creator of the Wizarding World would be involved in any big budget game adaption. But things changed in 2019 when JK Rowling started to express controversial opinions about transgender people online.
Since then, Rowling has been labelled a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) by her critics. And her name has been somewhat distanced from Wizarding World properties to avoid any negative connotations from her involvement.
When Hogwarts Legacy was announced in September 2020, expectations for a brand-new Harry Potter game were high. But Rowling’s continued involvement in the discussion of transgender rights has soured many on the idea of purchasing the game.
Some individuals have even gone so far as to call for a complete boycott of the game. But is Rowling involved in Hogwarts Legacy?
