This guide explains how to show battery percentage in iOS 16.
After rumours, speculation, and a closed beta, iOS 16 has arrived. iPhone users can now get their hands on the latest version of Apple’s iOS operating system.
iOS 16 brings with it a plethora of new features designed to enhance the iPhone user experience. From the revamped lock screen to the streamlined Focus tool, iOS 16 moves Apple’s mobile operating system forward in many ways.
However, with any big update comes a learning curve. Even the most seasoned of iPhone users will find themselves asking questions about how certain things work in iOS 16.
As always, Apple has done a fairly good job of explaining what you need to know when you go into apps or new settings for the first time. But if you don’t even know where to start, you might find yourself feeling a bit lost.
At one point or another, we’ve all wasted time scrolling through settings trying to activate a new feature that we’ve read about.
One new feature that iPhone users are keen to activate is the reintroduced battery percentage indicator in iOS 16.
Battery percentage was removed back with the introduction of iPhone X. Thanks to its bezel-less design, the battery percentage could no longer fit at the top of the screen – and Apple seemingly couldn’t come up with an alternative layout… Until now.
So, let’s go over how to show battery percentage in iOS 16…
How To Show Battery Percentage in iOS 16
Years after it was first removed, Apple have finally thought up a way to reincorporate the useful battery percentage indicator.
However, many fans are somewhat disappointed in its implementation. At present, the battery icon remains static (as if fully charged) and simply displays a percentage until it dips below 20%.
Fans and critics have been crying out for a dynamic icon to accompany the battery percentage indicator. Thankfully, Apple have capitulated and will be changing the design with iOS 16.1.
Even so, the battery percentage indicator is incredibly useful.
This is how to show battery percentage in iOS 16:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Battery.
- Toggle ‘Battery Percentage’ on.
After toggling the setting on, you will see the icon at the top of the screen will now include a percentage number relative to your iPhone’s charge level.
And there you have it. After almost five years away, the battery percentage indicator can finally return to your home screen!
