This Call of Duty guide explains how to uninstall Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) after installing Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) on PS5.

For many Call of Duty fans, 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 represented a fairly lacklustre year for the franchise. Its multiplayer was divisive and Warzone 2.0 was largely derided. While Modern Warfare 3 is far from perfect, its multiplayer component feels like a step in the right direction.

With that being said, there is little reason to keep MW2 on your PS5. This also provides a great opportunity to free up considerable space on your PlayStation’s SSD. As soon as my copy of MW3 had installed, I uninstalled MW2. But due to the new Call of Duty HQ and the way the two games are integrated, it isn’t quite as straightforward as it should be.

So, if you want to uninstall MW2 on your PS5, check out the steps below (as tested and confirmed by me).

How to uninstall Modern Warfare 2 after installing MW3 on PS5

To uninstall MW2 on PS5 after installing MW3, press the ‘Options’ button. Go to the ‘Settings’ tab by pressing R1. Select ‘Manage Files’ under ‘More’.

Select ‘Manage Files’.

In the next screen you will see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Modern Warfare II, and Warzone listed. Highlight Modern Warfare II and press Square. A prompt will appear asking you to confirm if you want to uninstall the game. Select ‘Uninstall’ by pressing X – this will complete uninstallation of MW2.

And there you have it. That’s how to free up significant SSD space on your PS5 by removing last year’s Call of Duty game.
